Lead-in-water testing
for Daycares

California Daycares are legally required to test for lead in water. Nature 2 Tap is here to help.

According to California law, Assembly Bill No. 2370 (AB2370) relating to lead exposure, requires all licensed child day care centers within the state of California, to test for lead levels in their drinking water. This requirement set forth by AB2370, encompasses all licensed child day care centers that are located in a building constructed prior to 1 January 2010, to have its drinking water sources tested for lead contamination levels. In addition to the testing, the day care centers are required to notify all parents or legal guardians of the enrolled children of the requirement for testing, as well as the results of the testing.

All day care centers that are required to conduct testing for lead in water, must do so as of January 2020.

Nature 2 Tap is fully prepared and eligible to assist you in conduct the required testing, offering industry grade results through our nationwide EPA Certified Laboratory - however with the ease of a “Do it yourself” kit, at competitive prices. The Nature 2 Tap team is always looking to meet your testing needs and we do so with confidence and with the safety of the children at heart.

“Why do we need to test our drinking water?”

Lead is a toxic metal that serves no purpose in the human body. Even low levels of lead contamination commonly leads to irreversible damage and it is especially harmful for children between the ages of 0-6. Even in minuscule amounts, children exposed to lead suffer from physiological and cognitive development.

Chuck Bove, father of 2 young girls, and founder of Nature 2 Tap, decided to build this company out of parental concern, after working as an environmental scientist for over 30 years. He has worked closely with upwards to 100 school districts, conducting thousands of lead-in-water tests. Usually the process of reliable lead-in-water testing is extremely costly due to labor and laboratory expenses, which is why Chuck decided to build Nature 2 Tap - offering industry grade testing, at a “DIY” efficiency and price-point. The aim is to make testing more reliable, cheaper and easier for everyone.

How does it work?

Nature 2 Tap has made water testing easier than ever before. With decades of expertise in testing for total lead (dissolved & solid lead), we have shaped our service model to assist you with ease throughout the entire process. In short, you just fill up the vials we send you, fill in the chain of custody, then place them back in the kit to ship to your lab.

Sounds easy right? We know you’ve got questions, here are your answers:

We will gladly assist you in determining how many vials you will likely need for your situation, you will receive the vials in our test kit boxes in the mail. Once you receive the kits, you can watch the “how-to” video HERE. You simply fill the vials following the very simple instruction sheet found in the kit (or follow the video). Close the vials and place them back in the box, fill out the chain of custody form provided in the kit, seal the box with the chain-of-custody sticker and place the box in your nearest post box at which point the kit will be sent to our EPA certified lab for testing - and don’t worry, we also provide nationwide prepaid postage.

The EPA certified lab will then perform the specialized testing, and send the results to you via email. It’s as simple as that. We can help you no matter what your testing needs are.

Assembly Bill No. 2370 outlines that all day cares that are required to test for lead in water, must also notify the parents or legal guardians of all enrolled children of the required testing. At Nature 2 Tap, we want to offer transparency and assist you, the daycare, in providing as much information and peace of mind as possible to the parents and guardians of your enrolled children.

When you choose to test your day care’s drinking water with Nature 2 Tap, you will be granted a letter, signed by our founder and environmental scientist, Chuck Bove. This letter will state exactly how the testing is conducted and why it is necessary, as well as what we look for and how Nature 2 Tap will use its expertise to assist in the process to the fullest extent possible.

Efficiency

Our service works in a way that lets you receive the necessary number of vials for the amount of tests required. There is no need to consider the variable cost or time of a technician on-site. Instead, with our service all you need to do is follow the simple instructions that come with the kit when filling up the vials (see “how-to” video HERE), fill out the sample form, seal the samples with the chain-of-custody sticker, and drop it in your nearest post box with the prepaid postage. After this, our EPA certified lab will process the samples and send you the results by email.

Reliability

Nature 2 Tap has built a partnership with the only laboratory that is EPA certified in all 50 states of the country. It doesn’t matter where you are testing, or the amount of tests you are in need of sampling - our partnered lab is equipped and certified to do all the testing of your water samples. This means that even if there are any testing plans or operations happening as a cross-state effort, the results will be considered certified congruently. Given the Chain-of-custody service we offer with the samples, the results are reliable as the lab will be aware if there has been any tampering of samples.

Affordability

Due to the structure of our service offering, we are able to provide you with industry grade water testing, however in a sharing-economy fashion. Our partnership with the EPA certified lab allows us to offer the service to you at a fraction of the cost of what any on-site technician would charge. We have been testing for decades and are aware of the fact that reliable testing can come at extremely high prices. Due to the fact that we have been able to isolate all the testing to one nationwide certified lab, with consistent testing needs, we are able to process the samples without needing any on-site technicians which drastically cuts the costs of the operation.

Scalable

Since our service doesn’t require a 3rd party to come out for testing, there really is no limit to the number of water samples that can be done in any given time period - it is up to you how quickly you want to do collect the samples, and when you want to do it. Our EPA certified lab is equipped to test up to 10.000 samples every month, with an average turnover rate of 10 business days for the samples. This is the time it takes for the water samples to be processed properly, so that we can ensure the highest level of reliability we could possibly provide through our service.
